Furthermore, interactive factor is one of the most
important indicators which will highly involve well-trained educators because
they are the ones who interact with the children almost every day of their
lives. The formal training helps the educator to understand how the children
grow and their uniqueness as well as making sure to meet the children’s needs
and boost their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and linguistic skills.
Children will learn better when the teacher enthusiastically interacts and
shows interest of helping them.
Another aspect to be
considered is the contextual factor. According to the Canada Child Care
Federation, there are three contexts (structural) variables that have demonstrated
impact on the quality of child care programs. These variables are the funding,
regulation and auspice. It has been said that, regulated child care is more
likely be of higher quality than not regulated child care. It has also a
positive impact on the educators and on the programs. On Auspice, considering on the implementation of
this program on discussed, it would be better to review briefly some of the
curriculum models which are commonly used in the province. Curriculum model is
characterized as an educational structure that combines theoretical and
practical applications. Below are the several models that most of the daycare
centers follow:
Ø Behaviorist program – this is the direct instructional
approach of teaching which is focused on academic skills. This is based on
Skinner and Watson’s theory of learning.
Ø Cognitive-Instructionist program – this program is
based on Piaget and Vygotsky’s theory. It emphasizes more on problem solving
with no direct instructions and encourages children to formulate their own
understanding about reality.
