Despite all the standard regulations set by the
government that should be followed there are still several issues to be
considered in this kind of program. One of the issues is that, there’s not
enough monitoring in the daycare. To monitor once every five years, I
personally believed, is not truly enough for licensed daycare. Based from my
observation, many public daycares are not following the regulations set by the
government, particularly in making a well prepared lesson plans that are
appropriate for the child's age or level of learning.
Another issue to look into for serious consideration
is the nutrition. Sometimes, the meals of the children do not meet with the
Canada’s nutrition standard. Accordingly, all daycare, public and private must
post their menu for the whole month on the entrance of the daycare center to
let the parents know what their children are eating for lunch and snacks. However,
most of the time, daycare services do not follow this rule. One more issue
worth mentioning is the cleanliness of the daycare center. The entrance might
be clean to look at but the inside is not, floors are not washed, toys are not
disinfected and the bathroom is not properly cleaned. All these issues should
be addressed and be investigated by the licensed health inspector and other agencies
to correct the problems in the daycare.
Understandably, a high-quality early childhood
programs requires responsive care not only for children, but also for their mentors,
their teachers. Teachers serve as a powerful and indispensable manpower in the
field of education. They are the agents responsible for the success of our
children. Therefore, they must be kept physically, emotionally, intellectually,
psychologically and socially competent. These assessments do not meet properly
when some of these issues I mentioned above remain uncorrected. They hinder the
benefits of the regulations set by the government that some of the daycare
providers are not aware of and if they do, they just do not care about their
educators and the children in their premises.
For the most part, high-quality early childhood
programs are indeed the best programs for our young children for the reason
that it promotes all areas of development such as social, physical,
intellectual, creativity and emotion. The government has a good plan for our
young children because they believe that the children are our future and I do
hope that daycare owners both public and private think and believe that also.
By doing so, we create the best possible magic towards our children in
preparing them for a better future since we are helping them build the perfect
foundation for life – quality education.
